President’s Ruminations – July 2013

Well, summer is here for sure…. Kidding is over, for the most part…. field work is underway on the farms… hay is being stashed in the barn for this winter. Goat clubs across the nation are putting on their annual shows… and soon, the fairs will also be offering a chance to show.

Some of the SE fairs may have an open show for goats… which will offer an excellent chance for our Guernseys to be seen by both the public and other goatkeepers. We have had several folks do this in the past few years and had a lot of positive interest shown in this new breed.

With this in mind, it is also the time to take photos to enter into the upcoming GGBoA Virtual Show, open to any and all registered Guernsey goats in the U.S. It would be nice to see a good showing of Guernseys from around the country. This sort of thing gives everyone a chance to see how our breeding programs are going and also a chance to look at the dams and sisters of any new herd sire one is looking to acquire.

Hopefully, many of you will take advantage of this great opportunity to show off your Guernseys.
